Character. It Shows.

Starting the Program

The Character. It Shows. education program consists of daily dialogue scripts and brief follow-up discussions. That’s it! One minute scripts start the day in a fun, engaging way.  There’s a script for every day of the school year, 176 scripts.

These child-centered messages can be used for multiple years. The 176 one-minute scripts cover ten character traits: attitude, courtesy, effort, responsibility, respect, self-control, citizenship, caring, trustworthiness, and fairness.

Prepare: Photocopy the scripts and discussions.* Give student readers their scripts. Help them practice their part: Reader 1or Reader. Next, provide a copy of each discussion guide for the teachers. The guide provides three questions and suggested thoughts for every specific script.

Read and Discuss: To begin, two students read the one minute script in the classroom at the start of the school day (or over morning announcements if using as a whole-school program). After the announcement, teachers in individual classrooms lead a brief, one or two minute discussion. The follow-up discussion provides time to reflect on the day’s message.

Continue the fun: Continue the program daily throughout the school year. Your students will look forward to it each morning. Watch as students respond positively to the messages!

*The Character. It Shows. complete program with teacher instructions and 176 dialogue scripts and discussions is currently being prepared for publication and will be ready for purchase by fall. If you sign up for the newsletter, you will be informed when the program becomes available.
